I have a 2007 GMC Sierra SLT 5.3 new body style truck. I emptied the oil, but could not figure out if there was 5 qts or 6. I asked Auto Zone and they did not know either. Can someone tell me how much oil to put into this thing? Also, is it standard for a truck NOT to have a dipstick? Or am I just looking at the oil fill and there's actually a dipstick on the otherside? (I know I'm going to regret asking this...)

and the dip stick is on the left side of the engine with a yellow grap thing for it.

yOu just beat me to it by 30 sEconds. And had to edit your post to add the dipstick.

This info should be in the capacities section of your owner's manual. If you're just a casual wrencher, I suggest picking up a Hayne's or Chilton repair/service manual at your local auto parts store. An even better option would be to invest in a factory service manual.
