HOW TO: Audi R8 LED Light Mod

I thought it would be a cool/fun project (could call it ricer or whatever you want, did it for fun) to take the turn signal bezels on a NBS truck and add LEDs similar to the audi R8

I took the lights and followed the tutorial on clearing the amber out of you're lights on these forums.

I also took this time to paint the amber plastic black so the ugly chrome and 194 bulb socket does not show.



I first marked out on the light and drilled holes using a 1/32 drill bit for the LED leads.

its kinda hard to see but to the left of the led there are 2 holes for the led leads to go though


the spacing and placement is personal preference, but i opted to go with one led every 1 1/8"

You take the LEDs and bend the leads exactly 90 degrees so they look like this



After marking and drilling all the holes, then inserting the leds through them, you should have something similar to this



You will have to wire the leds in series according to the spec sheet of the leds you end up getting so that the leds do not burn out when you hook them up to 12 volts. For getting the positive and negative outside of the housing, i used a 194 bulb socket to go into the one behind the black lens and wired it up so that on each end of the pigtail is my (+) and (-)

I do not have any pics of them lit up because i did not have the correct resistors, tomorrow i should have pics with them lit up..

for wiring in the truck, it is a personal preference again, if you want them to use the turn signals or only turn on during the day, or have them come on with the engine running....
