I am curious, I have a 4.8L 01 RCLB 4x4 and I think it might for a couple reasons:

(a) 1-2 shift WOT it will spin the tires slightly
(b) lined up against a friends 01 5.3 ECSB 4x4 3.73 and was able to beat him from a stop, multiple times. Both times I got the jump and pulled away at the top. He has a hypertech 87 tune, intake, exhaust. I have same lacking hypertech. I should also mention right now my truck isn't running well a little rough, slightly lean, so that should put me at a dis-advantage. I looked up curb weight and he is 349# heavier. I weigh 50# more and have a shitload of tools in the truck plus a full tank (34 gal). He was at 1/4.

Biggest reason I think it doesn't: torque managment. If I am in dirt spinning the tires pretty good I can feel it cutting power big time. I haven't watched it with a scanner, but I can feel it cutting power.

So, how do I tell?
