Well shit. I drove in a creek and there was a sudden drop off and we went under. I've been there a few times before but this time I was just a foot to the right of where I should have been and that did it.

I've got it home now and pulled the sparkplugs, 2 cylinders dripped a couple ounces of water out while doing so. then I cranked the starter. crap. water sprayed everywhere.

It turns so maybe I didn't completely ruin it.

what do I do now? a friend is suggestion spraying oil or wd40 into the cylinders and waiting until tomorrow to change the oil and try new plugs.

edit: it was underwater for an hour and a half. maybe the water got in while under somehow and not sucked in from the intake. the intake tube from the airbox was very clean and dry inside.

what say you guys (besides "you're a dumbass" I already know that quite well :( )

well if it turns over you didnt completly fuck it up. Drain the oil, change the plugs and shoot a lil oil into the cylinders. You should be good to go. Youll find out really wuick if something went wrong. lol

I went and got new plugs and oil/filter. lots of water came out with the old oil.

I was going to try to start it up tonight but I have a electrical problem I've got to track down. The starter runs constantly when you put the key in the on/run position.

I did run the starter like that for a bit to get my new oil all pumped throughout the engine.

still hoping.

IT FUCKIN RUNS!

I put the plugs in and it wasn't starting, and it wasn't starting and crap.

After a few minutes and a bit of inspiration from mr. marley I figured out the exhaust system must be full of water. a couple holes drilled by the cats and one in the muffler and gallons of water come draining out after that it fires right the fuck up!

It's a little rough. actually it seems to start up fine but after warming up a little bit it seems like it's missing. I'm going to check the new plugs and the dist. hope it's not a stuck lifter or worse.

All the electrical stuff is fine so far except the starter still wants to run when the key is on. I had to pull the starter relay out and when I want to start it I turn the key on and just push that realy in for a sec. Also the air bag light is on.

But all in all it seems good so far. I don't want to get my hopes up too much and be real disappointed when I spin a bearing or something the first time I drive it, but I'm a lot more optimistic now.

I had no clue if anyone was going to be able to even get me out of the creek in the first place much less me getting the motor running the next day. But a friend was close and heard about me from another friend and was able to pull me out with his rubicon. Not only that, he pulled me half a mile through some moderately hairy shit to get back to paved road where the flatbed came to get me. 3000 pound jeep drags a 5500 pound tahoe pretty damn good. He's got some kind of 4:1 4lo a 6:1 first gear and 4:1 axles so like a 100:1 final drive in 1st, pull down a house with an I6!

edit: and as far as insurance goes, I don't think they cover you when you're in the creek on purpose like a dumbass and it has unexpected features below! I think the going into the creek part has to be accidental like it would be for "normal" people. Don't know what kind of story I'd would've had to spin to make it sound believable. I only have liability anyway though.

What happened was: I've crossed this creek and drove up it before one way, it's only about 8" deep and nice traction rocky bottom. I went a different way yesterday, all of a sudden it felt soft and oops, it's a little deeper not too deep though. I don't mind being on rocks underwater, but I don't want to be on underwater mud or silt or sand. not in trouble yet, I put in in R and started backing up but I've got no traction. I hit the gas hard and started turn the wheel left to right and that's when my right front tire fell off some kind of ledge and the whole truck shifts right and the right front end goes all the way under. headlight was 2" below the surface.

and now we know why GM is going under :untitled:
HUH? Thats what insurance is for IMO. So your allowed to be a moron and rearend somebody or lose control doing burnouts or something and get your shit fixed but you can't drive into high water like a complet idiot and get your shit fixed? accidents happen and that is why you pay each month to be covered.

And what the fuck does insurance have to do with GM?

Would insurance really cover that though? I didn't think they'd cover any type of offroad activity type stuff.

Say you went off the road avoiding a crazy driver. Boom! Insurance foots the bill.

I wouldn't be surprised if insurance covered a stunt like this. I would expect to pay for it in your premiums for a good while though.

This guy got his insurance to cover his goof. Totalled.

Word, my brother got his one year old Jeep repainted and a ton of body work done because he said he slid off the road in the snow avoiding another car. In reality, he got drunk and decided he should hit a row of those big heavy construction barrels and followed that up with some mail boxes and rolling it on its side.

Hey so what does insurance have to with GM? TOOL.

Btw i don't think it matters if his insurance saw that. You pay for the shit for a reason. So he swerved to miss 100 deer and ended up in the water.
