Yeah the place that has it is down the street from me but there smoking crack at over $8k for it... I can get a brand new one from a guy in Hisperia in the crate for $5500. He has about 5 left I think... Anywho, if I was going to do the swap I would run a 12 valve for sure. All it needs to run is 3 wires and a battery and some diesel. No computer to deal with at all and performance mods are cheap, no programmers or boxes needed.

I was going to swap a 12v into my truck but ended up deciding that the gas would do fine for a trail rig. Now I'm looking at a 2002 dodge 3500 dually with 24 valve HO and 6 speed. Then in a few years I'm going to find a 96-99 crew cab dually chevy 3500 and swap the drivetrain into it for my new tow rig.

You just can't beat a Cummins for a diesel in a light truck. Some guys on TDR are at 450,000 miles with no rebuilds yet. Not to mention for about $1000 you can have 1000 ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheels and 550hp. Same can be done to a 12v for under $500 though.

I'm planning on putting a 12v in mine aswell. Probably with a 4l80 behind it. I have a buddy who has a '90-ish w/ a Cummins. It was his dad's, then his big brother's, then his other big brother's, and now it is his. It has had the turbo turned all the way up since they bought it, and they have rolled it 3 times... still the same engine. :head:
