Okay, guys..I need some help. What should the 5.3 idle at after being at operating temp. I have an '01 Tahoe, stock motor with 60,000 miles on it. A few days ago, it wouldn't start very well after sitting for a while. It would turn over and run for a count of 10 or so then die. After I let it sit for a minute, it would start normal. I cleaned the throttle body and it is starting fine now, but it is idling at 450-500 rpm's. I can't remember if that is correct or not. It doesn't bog down when you stop at lights, but it just seems to be hardly running. Sorry for the long post, but I just need some input. Thanks.

Does it have the dive by wire system? GM has been having a few problems with these throttle bodies. There are bulletins for the cable operated ones also though. There are fixes ranging from cleaning to reprogramming to installing little plugs in the throttle plate.450-500 rpm does seem a little low.

~500 is correct. I had my idle bumped to like 575rpm.

How about the Fuel Filter? Is anything else blatently wrong under hood?
