Hey all.

So i just purchased some Fabtech Lift Spindles for my 94 C3500 crew cab.. I'm trying to figure out what i'm going to do with the installation, i'm assuming quite a few of you have done this yourself.

How difficult was it?

Anybody have it done at a shop? Cost?

I'm leaning on doing it myself, but if it's one of those things thats going to be a major PITA i'll just take it somewhere..

I'm also thinking about replacing all the ball joints while i'm at it. Here's the truck, it will get 18x10's on 285/60/18's.

The only thing that worries me is the ball joints, if they need replaced i do not have a press to do it.

you can have a shop press them in for you, or you can usually rent a press tool for free from a autoparts store if you buy the balljoints from them.

You can buy a ball joint press & pickle fork set for $100 for the both of them. Don't hae to be super expensive ones.

Replacing a spindle is removing your 8 lug nuts, two tie rod nuts, 1 tie rod end nut, 3 bolts that hold your hub assembly on. Thats it!

I hate pickle forks. I usually just end up tearing up the ball joint any way, so why not just mash the threads with a hammer. There's def a place for them, I just haven't found it yet. Just take 2 hammers and wack both sides of the ball joint area and they usually pop right out.

If your removing ball joints your throwing out, who cares if you mangle the ball joint with the pickle fork. And my lower BJ's when I removed, no matter how hard I hit the knuckle, they would not come out. Picke fork had to be used.
