1999 OBS Tahoe. This is my second light switch. I replaced it this past winter. Anywho, the orange wire on top on the far side on the harness keeps burning up, causing the prong on the switch to become black, making my running lights & dash lights to go out. Tonight the wire fell off the harness. I afro engineered it to get home, but would like to find the cause. The truck had foglights wired up by the previous owner, I had them plugged in, and just recently unplugged them thinkin that might be the culpret. I also have xentec 10k hids..

Are the fogs wired through relays?
Stupid GM didn't run the headlights through a relay so your switch takes all the current being drawn.
One of the best things you can do is install some relays and run your headlights directly from the battery.
Will give you MUCH better lighting as well as taking most of the current draw away from the switch.
