Ive done some research on the subject and found that it is a direct swap pretty much. IF that is so, then why would it be unreliable as a daily driver as I have heard. Would a cam, Lt headers, P&P heads, CAI, and a good tune make it undesirable as a DD? Im interested in doing the swap with those mentioned mods, and building my 4L60E. I wanted to find a vortech max but couldnt find a nbs one, and the nnbs one I found didnt work out, so now I want to do a 6.0 LQ9 swap. What are some of your opinions/suggestions on this? 2005 1500 with the 5.3 H.O.

im dailyin mine and i just did the 6,0 swap? for no reason would it not be..

only thing is that things can take longer then you think while doing the swap, and put your DD down for a few days..other then that..idk im getting better mpg with the 6,0 then i ever got with the 5.3

No, why would that make it undesirable?
I dont know, sounds pretty damn desirable to me! I've just heard that doing an engine swap takes the reliablility out of your vehicle. But if its just a stock engine with a few bolt ons, then it seems to me that it would be just as reliable as a cadillac or ss silverado the motor came out of, right?
what would be some issues I could potentially run into with doing the swap?

you did the lq4 correct? how many miles does it have on it and did you rebuild the who thing before you dropped it in? about how much did you spend on the swap?

yup lq4..i did absolutely nothing to the motor besides put fresh oil in it, clean the TB and seafoam it..it runs perfect..cant even hear or feel it running compared to my 5.3..

i got the motor for 700, efans 150, misc fluids- 100-150 shift kit and servo-150

so all and all just a little over a grand

sounds like a good price, I really want an LQ9 but if I found an LQ4 for a good price then I think I'd do that. Was it worth the swap, did you notice a good amount of power?

don't buy an LQ9 unless you find a really good deal on it. buy an LQ4. junkyards seem to charge out the ass for an LQ9 just because it came from an escalade or an SS silverado.

while you have the 6.0L on the engine stand, i'd put in a cam, springs, and pushrods. the 317 heads should be fine for what you have in mind performance wise. toss on some long tube headers, maybe a 3,000rpm converter, and a built transmission.

the 317's are on the lq9 aswell, only difference is the pistons (with compression) and rods

So I should be good with an Lq4 out of an 05+ truck? Yeah my plan would be to do the cam/springs/rods while it was on the engine stand. I would use my LPP LT headers and CAI off of my 5.3. Of course I would get a BB tune. As far as the trans, I would do a stall and shift kit for the time being untill it blew then do a full build. The rear is pretty much set untill that goes, then the 14 bolt SF would go in.
So should I just look at local junk yards for this motor? How Much should I expect to pay for a complete lq4?

I was recommended the "210/218 .551 on a 112LSA" specs for a cam for my 5.3 would that still be a good cam to use in the 6.0? if not, what would be keep in mind I have 35s and I would get the appropriate stall to compliment the cam.

I can't find a good deal on a 6.0 or I would buy one the junkyards around here think they are made of gold or somthing for like 100000 mile motor they want like a grand.. For a decent milage motor they want like 1500

Oh and that cam may be a tad bit small for the 6.0 I'm sure it would be an upgrade but you could probly get away with a tad bigger cam with a 3k stall
What would be a more appropriate sized cam for a 6.0 then? I want a cam that would be worth the swap & money but dont want anything to wild.
