Hey guys;

I saw another post about a guy putting 285's on his and barely clearing them...if i level my 04 sierra by tweaking the front end, can my truck clear 295's? Isn't that basically a 33'' tire? I'd like to go with 33's, but no bigger...can I swing it w/o a lift?

TIA.

Well, i take it your truck is 4wd, so the 285's won't be a problem with slight cranking (thats what I did). Hell, theres even guys running them with no cranking (probably the guy thats "barely clearing"). FYI, 285's are basically 33x11.50's...if you stepped up to 295's, they are more like 35's...and a little to big unless you got a BL or SL.

285's WILL fit, you may have to crank a little to keep them from rubbing all the way around. 295's are a bit big and unless you find somebody runnig them on a NBS, stock height I wouldn't chance it. I know some tire places allow you to test fit tires, you might look into that.

285/75R16s are more like a 32x11.50

edit: I meant 11.5 not 10.5.

I agree from what Ive seen with my own eyes:

265/75 31x10.50
285/75(70) 32x11.50
255/85 34x8.50
305/70(75) 33x12.50
315/70(75) 35x12.50
325/80 37x12.50(13.50)

Even though you said that you dont want to lift, if I was you I would go with a 3" body with 305's, it would look really really good....just my .02 :rocking:

hmm...well, the reason i don't want to lift is b/c the truck is primarily a tow vehicle, but i don't suppose a small BL would affect that much ;).

Thanks a lot guys, you've been a big help. If 305 is 33, then that's probably what i'll do if i can get a deal on the BL...i like the beefy, but not-too-big look of 33's..but i suppose i'll need wider wheels than the stock 17's.

Thanks again!

i had a stock 2001 z71 with 295 bfg's and it was so bad ass! :rocking: now i will warn you i had the shit cranked out of my torsion bars but it doesn't bother me cause it's still smaller than any tire i'd ever ran in my life.... but anyhow it will work and looks awsome. btw i hope your talkin bout factory wheels..... thats the only way that setup will fly. and after those tires wore out i went with 285's and the truck looked scrony so i put my old lady to drivin it now! :buttkick:

i'm looking at putting 275/70/16 on stock wheels. I have a 4x4 2k silverado. Will it clear? Is there anything I need to do to the stock chasis to make sure they don't rub? I don't want to do a body or chasis lift.

Yea, 305's are just a little bit wider and I really like the way that they look, my cousin ran 305 SSR's on 10" rims and it looked good, i think that you would be happy with that setup :rocking:

285/75/16's will fit no problem. That's what I have, and there is absolutely 0 rubbing. I did crank the T-bars about 4 turns. Don't know that it needed it, but I did it.

285's will fit no problem. Even 305's or 295's will work, if they're on stock wheels.

No. The overall diameter of a 285/75-16 is the same as a 33x12.50. The overall diameter of a 265/75-16 is the same as a 32x11.50. The metric tire with the same height as a 31x10.50 would be 245/75-16. The thing that is lacking in the metric sizes is the width. The old school "flotation" tires are wider.

This is wrong. You need to learn how metric tire sizes work. A 305/70 and a 305/75 can't be the same height. They are 1.20 inches different in height.

I went with 285's on my 03. I didthe ford keys on it, I dont like the stuffed look. Also not on a stock rim, I went with an 8' weld rim. looks sweet.
