I have a 1990 GMC Sierra with a T700R4 Transmission. I recently had some work done on the transmission, changed out the clutches and bushings. We replaced all seals and gaskets. The transmission still has a leak, unsure from where and when out on the freeway, the tranny tries to down shift to 3rd. When we check the tranny fluid it is not so low that the tranny would slip, even used anti-slip additive. Any suggestions guys? Help this poor girl out... hee hee

Did you rebuild this yourself?

Sounds like the TV cable isn't adjusted right

Is it leaking up front or out back? I mean, do some troubleshooting on your own. Clean the case and park the vehicle and see what happens.

The clutches and bearings were changed out by an transmission shop, we took out and replaced transmission ourselves, replacing both front and rear seals and pan gasket. What is a TV cable? What does it do? Never heard of it.

Cable that connects from the transmission to the throttle body on the engine. It tells the transmission how much line pressure it needs based on throttle position. If this isn't installed / adjusted right, then the transmission will usually burn up pretty quick.

Yeah if you ran it w/o the TV cable attached, you probably have fucked up the trans again.

NO! It's not only downshifts but ALSO line pressure.

Well, adjusted the TV Cable, still having random down shift, 35 mph and up. Have tried adjusting two different times. Can the wire that is in the inside be stretched? Truck is driven at 35 mph most of the time.

Sounds normal, I do not believe the vehicle can lug itself around in OD @ 35mph, converter locked.

Just put the fucker into 3rd at those slow ass speeds and motor on. OD is stupid in the city anyway.

Apparently you did not read the previous post, I DO NOT have this problem driving around at 35 mph, it occurs when I am going faster than 35 mph. I guess that you are not able to help me in this matter. Thank you.....

I had a similar thing happen on a truck once and it ended up that it had a transmission line that had split open and would leak only when the truck was running. The fluid level was very low and it would cause the truck to downshift sporadically when driving about 35-50 MPH. Topped off the fluid and fixed the leak in the line and it hasn't happened since. It might not be something as simple as that but it turned out to be for me. Hope you can get it fixed and good luck.
