I ended up doing some trading and just picked up this 2000 GMC Sierra solid axle swapped on 40s. Got some plans to clean it up an maybe change some stuff up.
12'' lift, dana 44 high pinion up front dana 60 in back, 5.38 gears, locker in rear. crossover steering. amp steps. pioneer double din with memphis door speakers all the way around and 2 memphis m5 10s under the seat...some other stuff im forgeting.
What yall think....

Over all looks great! Good find. I'd get a stock rear bumper, some clear corner lights and loose the mesh grille.

yea i want a stock rear bumper, the grille isnt to bad. its different.
it has black covers on the corners, ive got to take them off and get the velcro off.

i want a wider stance, might look into spacers or trade my wheels for some wider ones.

the dana 44 will work fine for me cause it will never go offroad except for at some events just to cruise the main areas. with the 5.38s i can cruise 70mph at 2100rpm

how you like the 5.38s with 40s? i wanted to do that but got scared and only got 5.13s

would love this truck like 1mil x more if it wasnt stepside but it still looks good

ha be a waste of the ss plus it was all wheel drive.
i think its a perfect combo, drives like stock if not better as far as off the line, doesnt strain one bit and like i said cruise at 70 is right around 2100 rpm. id say right in the sweet spot.
yea i was skeptical of the step side...but its really growing on me. with a bumper i think it will look a bit better.
oh and also im going to be stripping the old paint off the axles and suspention and going back with candy red with silver accents and polishing the drive shaft like i did on the silver crew cab. i think that will look good

btw, if you ever switch out the front axle with a different one id totally love to pick up those front gears off you
