I am finally getting ready to order my axles so I can get my rear end narrowed. I have an '05 crewcab that has rear drum brakes and I doubt I will ever convert to calipers. I have read posts were people have narrowed up to 1 1/2" per side with rear calipers. I was thinking of narrowing mine 2" each side with my drum brakes. I have measured quite a bit and it doesn't appear it will be an issue but I figured I would ask the experts before I placed the order.

I narrowed mine 2" per side with drum brakes and have plenty of clearance still. I'm not positive but I imagine you could go 2.5. My advice is to buy your wheels first, and narrow it to fit those wheels. I narrowed mine for a 24x10 +12 offset, then I couldn't get my hands on the wheels I had planned on. Also, the closet spot i would possibly have an issue, is the tire to bag clearance, which I wouldn't have thought about before.

Thanks for the heads up on the tire to bag clearance. I plan to buy billets so offset will not be any issue. My real worry was interference with drum and any of the KP brackets, but it sounds like you had no issues with 2".
I want like to narrow further then 2" so I will look into the tire to bag clearance further.
Thanks again!

Well I finally got a change to crawl underneath and take some additional measurements. What I found is a small hump on the backside of the brake plate is the limiting factor and it's approx 3 inches from the lip of the KP bracket that. So I think 3" would be the max you could narrow a 10 bolt rearend with a KP 6 link. I want just a little wiggle room so 2.5 inches it is. I also checked the tire to bag clearance and looks like it I will be clear with a 30 series 24 inch tire. 26s with a 30 or 35 series tire might be different story.

I decided on 2.5" each side. I have 1.75" billet spacers installed so my current rims don't rub the link bars. Kinda counter intuitive but it works.

So after the narrowing and with the spacer my wheels are tucked in about 0.75" from where they were before I narrowed which works well with my current setup.

I am currently at work and have my notes at home, but after reading countless posts I believe I will be able to run 10" wide billet wheels, with a 4.75" backspace, and be able to run a 295 tire. This is all predicated on the fact that I am going to finally perform a bodydrop this fall and I don't want the tires to touch the outside of the wheel wells.

Of course I would love the backspace to be less (4") but 4.75" should look good.

I had Ramey Built in Va Beach do mine. They are best known for building fast rice burners (8 second 1/4 mile fast). I had a friend who knew the owner Shawn. After I told him what my plans were for the truck he said bring it on down. So since my truck is my daily and to minimize down time, I ordered the axles from Moser and after they came in I removed the axle and dropped it off with them. I was promised it would be done in 2 days but it ended up taken over a week. They had to order the fixture for my rearend and it took longer then they expected to arrive. Now that they have it, a would expect they could turn one around in 36 hours. They do great work.

When I was calling around trying to find a place on this side of the water Va Rod co keep coming up. I was really surprised how hard it was to find a place with all the car guys in our area.

Can't wait to see it, was going to do a 3 link or something for deep lip but hard to remove the KP as it does ride good and perform well
