I went and picked up my truck yesterday to find that it has 285/50R20 good years which are about brand new and they are just too damn big, especially for the 3.42 gears. im planning a 2/4 in the future and was thinkin becuase of the gearing i want to even go a little smaller than a 275/45. do they make a 275/40? also, what is the smallest tire diameter you would run on a 20"?

Toyo makes a 255/45/20.

Michelin makes a 275/40/20 but i've only seen that tire once and I believe it was costly (seems like it was for one of the overseas luxury SUV's, maybe an X5?)

I agree that 285/50/20 is way too big for a street truck. I am running 245/40/20 and it really made a difference in my trucks acceleration and what not since it is such a shorter tire on a lighter wheel :head:

damn all the tires of the size id like are inbetween $250-350 a piece, i think i might re-gear my truck and keep the 285/50's becuase my only other option is some 275/45's and that isnt small enough. If you had 3.42's with the 285/50's would you get 3.73 or 4.10?

4.10s for sure...no need to pay all that cash to regear and have it only be a lil lower..might as well make it worth your money...
