Does anyone know if the new Cadillac or Denali engine and trans will
fit in the classic trucks. The new 6.2 engine has 403 horsepower and
a six speed trans. here is the info.

2007 GMC Sierra Denali Summary
The 2007 GMC Truck Sierra Denali is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury pickup, available in two trims, the Crew Cab Short Box RWD and the Crew Cab Short Box AWD.

Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 6.2-liter, V8, 403-horsepower engine. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

The 2007 GMC Truck Sierra Denali is redesigned for 2007.

I'd imagine the engine won't be too hard... getting the trans to work could be a bit of a headache though.

I bought the 07 classic because I just did not like the new body style.
I do like the horsepower of the new cadillac. And would consider a
swap. I will have to look into motor mounting, trans mounting and
axle lenght. As well as the computer control issues. Another thing
that to consider is the trans hump in the cab. I am not sure if it
will be differant. I guess time will be my friend on this swap. I am
sure this will be done before to long. And maybe a write up will follow.

Why not swap in a 6.0 if you are just looking for power? 6.0+tune, cam, and bolt ons will be a lot more potent than that stock 6.2...and honeslty, cheaper and easier.

I am open to this aswell. I guess I need to look at what options are
out there, and how much work is involved. A 6.0 would be nice. I
am sure there is plenty of info on this swap.

Thanks,

a 6.0 is pretty much as easy as pulling your old motor out and putting the 6.0 in if you have a 4.8/5.3 truck. the stock trans won't last for too long after though.

what will I need to do to get them working.

Why didn't you get a 3/4 ton truck to start with?

6.0 is a simple 5.3 out, 6.0 in. Same harness, 5.3 computer will work but you'll probably want a tune. The 80e is a different story, definetly not a 60e out 80e in. But depending on how much power you want will determine if you actually need an 80e or to just go with a built 60e.

As for the denali/escalade engine and trans, I'm sure the motor uses the same mounts and that everything would fit no problem. I'm not sure if the wiring harness are similar, because they have the new SUVs/trucks with the old shit in them, so I dunno. But its quite possible that the escalade and denali have totally different wiring harness' than everything else. And theres that DoD the engines have, I dont know if they have extra shit for that you would need. But its all possible, just depends on how deep your pockets are. Personally I'd either wait til someone else tries this, or go with a 6.0

If you are seriously considering a swap you need to look at two things. Putting a Superchager on the truck will net higher HP/TQ #s on your 5.3 than the 6.2 will and second.. If you are really hell bent and want to do a swap and build an engine, Build a custom 408 or 427. Way more power and Torque and ill bet the cost is about the same or less!!
