So installing new gears (5.13) and got ring and pinion set to .007 back lash. Got pattern painted and set. Installed shafts/tires and this thing has alot of play and is coming from the diff gears. Was curious if anyone remembers if this is normal for the true trac. I'm going to guess this will clunk bad when changing gears.

Re: New True Trac have this much play

That could also be the play in the axle shafts going into the diff I think. I just went and checked mine and it won't budge at all.
Yeah its the two side gears that the axles go into and then there are 6 Worm gears that ride on those side gears.

WTF, search true trac clunk and people all over the place have this problem, seems to be normal, if this is normal Im ordering a auburn.

Why don't you call Eaton and see if they can explain the phenomenon better than some keyboard jockeys?
