not really looking to know a fix as I know I will have to bring it into the dealership. Just wondering if anybody has ever ran into the same problem or heard of this issue?

So I'm driving home from work. Got the radio playing the iPod. All of a sudden radio turns off... hrrr? okay...? Hit the radio power button, nothing. About a minute later, still driving down the road, suddenly my gauge cluster resets. Now everything is at zero/turned off point. So I'm going down the road with everything off.

Now I get "services TPMS system", "service Airbag system", "service Traction control" and about 3-4 others on the cluster, but nothing else. GREAT!

I'm about 20 miles from home. So I pull into a parking lot. As I turn in. I notice my turn signal on my passenger rear view mirror isn't working. AWESOME. I hope my brake lights are working...
K turn in without getting rear ended or anything.

Turn off engine. Locks didn't open when I hit park(like they always do), gauge cluster still kept the backlighting on.

Tried the power locks to unlock. Nope nothing. Tried mirror controls, no response.
I pop the hood and disconnect the negative. Let it sit for a min, reconnect. truck fires right up and everything seem to be back to normal.

Continue back on the road. About 10 miles later, same thing happens again. I took the backway home, so I'm on empty roads alone. So I just figure I drive this all the way home. So gauges go out again along with the radio. So I said fuck it I'll get this thing home. About 5 minutes later they all come back on & its back to normal.

Then all of a sudden I got this voice "Thanks for calling onstar, this is Jennifer, how can I help you?"
"uhh... wtf"
:rofl2:
I didn't even call onstar.
I had her ran a "diagnostic" anyways, which I knew would come back "okay" and it did.
So I got it parked at home okay. Gotta call dealership tomorrow. oh fun.

This isn't the first time this has happened btw(first time was just sitting in my garage). I disconnected the battery and it worked fine. This was like.. 5 months ago?

So... anybody ever ran into this before?

I guess my battery is good? Truck starts up no problem. No indication of this problem until it hit. I could swap batteries to see if it comes back, but with the problem so few and far between, who knows if that fixes it.

I left the battery unhooked over night(just to clean out the system) and I drove it around & no problems. I called the dealership(two actually) to see if its even worth while bringing in the truck. It was running okay. I just drove it to work and no problems.
They said it would be hard to diagnose if its working okay(which I can understand). So they suggest next time it fucks up to not touch it and get it towed.

:blah:

Just to clarify about the "not starting".
I would turn over the key, the dash would light up, but nothing would happen. Like the starter was getting no juice or something. Not like it was TRYING to turn over and couldn't. It would be like trying to turn over the engine without a battery. Just silence and nothing.

Sounds like everybody is leaning towards battery issues. Maybe I should swap it anyways.

I'm not so sure about the battery problem. Truthfully I experienced something similar in my 07 when i first installed my original iPod interface with the factory radio. My dash went blank, no lights, mirrors, ect... Anyway it was diagnosed by my local shop, had them pull that interface and replace it with my current one, no problem since. So, not sure about what you have added to your truck, but if this is a new radio with an on-star replacement interface, or a factory radio ipod interface it may be worth the phone call. Check with the dealership, many times if they find the fault in the aftermarket goods, they will make you responsible for the diagnossis and repairs (removal of the aftermarket goods).
Hmm that is a good point. I do have an ipod adapter on there. I've had it on there since the beginning.

Nothing has happened since I posted *knock on wood*

Hmm thanks for the info though.
