Decently long membership here, have searched and read a ton. But seem to get a lot on contradicting info on this issue. Looking to lift over my TGC level to help clear my summer 305/55/20s. The issue is in the winter I run 285-70-17 duratrac. I love both sets up besides the fact the 17s complicate the lifting.

So do any lifts work with stock 17s with out spacing? If spacing is required how much are you guys doing? Thanks in advance for the help.

It definitely requires spacers but I'm not sure how much. For some reason 1" sticks in my head

It seems a 1/4" spacer is good enough on most kits to clear a stock 17" wheel. I'll post the deal with my RCX kit in a month or so.

You doing rcx with 17s?

For what I'm doing the rcx, tgc bottom spacer, and rcx uppers would be the best bang for my buck. And a 1/4" you just set over the stock studs too Id assume.

I wish I didn't put so much $ into my 17s. I could never recoup a bulk of that selling them.

I run stock 17s with 285/70r17 duratracs year round with only a little bit of rub. I have the 2.5inch rough country and 1.25 inch body lift. Want to get 295/70r17 trails next time around

I have 3'' of lift, 1/4'' spacers, have trimmed major plastic and still rub with 295/70/17 Nittos. You might slide by with what you have tho.

Thanks for the tip I may have to do a little extra research then. You didn't have to cut any metal though correct?

Gmc rims have pockets in the back no need to cut studs if your wheels have pockets

Where/when do you rub? I'm running 285 70 17 Hankooks with just Bilsteins set at the highest setting and the only signs of rubbing are from when the front of my fender liner got pushed into the wheel well.
