Hey guys, what are my NNBS off-road shock options for bouncing around and not bottoming out, but still handling good on the highway? fox shocks? some bilsteins or ranchos? whats out there? has anyone upgraded they're shocks? Can you even change the shcoks inside the stock springs? or do you replace the springs too? My truck is an 07 Vmax that has the zone leveling kit and 1.5" BL with 285 KM2's. Thanks for the help! and here is the truck:

I have stock coilovers up front then have 6 Fox Resi's and it rides pretty good. Personally I think the stock coilover performs fine for setups like yours, if anything I would just change out the rear shocks. I noticed a huge difference when i switched from super ride shocks in the back to Fox 2.0s but you pay a price for it, but on a lighter note you can adjust the valving so if its too firm or stiff you can change it up and not be stuck with what you bought.

how much lift do you have in the rear? the 10" travel shocks are about 25"s extended, the 12" ones are about 31 extended, measure yours now

Daniel The Bling shocks are over rated mango! Run the stockers till you Need a new set. Bilstein 5100 series are hard to beat. Unless you plan on hot lapping and sand mobbing in FL, then I reccomend a Ressi type expensive shock.

With your set up you dont need to spend that kind of cash on shocks, unless you want to of course. Are you just looking for a firmer ride or maybe some adjustability or just an upgrade?

I guess I dont really know what im looking for... maybe I should just keep the stockers? i dunno. I was just tryin to find something that was better than what I had, so that I had a stronger suspension in my truck. I want it to be able to handle big bumps better when offroad bouncing around on my girlfriends ranch and when I take the truck to some hunting spots.

the lift is technically stock height... just the 1.5" Body lift. So, your saying I should take one of the shocks loose and see how long it is extended? or just measure it right now on the truck with weight on it?

Thanks marcus, but where is a good place to get some of those bilsteins for a good price? Is there anything else I could do to make the truck better/stronger offroad? Maybe a skidplate up front or some kind of traction bars? I was thinking about doing a rear T/A diff cover too... Thanks for the help guys!

Traction/anti wrap bars only needed if you are having axle wrap problems, which i doubt. Honestly with your new truck i doubt anything is wrong with the suspension right now. I wouldnt bother with replacing shocks, its only a Cool factor now. Things to consider is watching trans temp when driving in heavy stop and go traffic. maybe a larger trans cooler or a deeper pan to keep the 65e happy behind the 6.0L.

So far in many different conditions, I havent seen over 180 degrees in the tranny... so i think its pretty good as of now. But, I havent pulled a boat or anything in stop and go... maybe then it would heat up more. thanks for the help. :shake:

Keep the stockers as long as you can.

Rancho shocks don't last.

The Billsteins 5100 are rough as hell on my truck right now. Nice on the highway but beat you up in the pasture or on gravel. Little disapointed for the price.
