My 05 GMC SIERRA ext can 4x4 quadrasteer 135,000 miles has no heat when I start it up in winter and, let it run for a few minutes. But, once I drive about a half a mile the heat comes out fine.

It take quite a while to warm up in winter. And your truck will warm up much faster when you are driving it than when it is idling. What you describe sounds pretty normal. It could help bring clarity to your post to state the outside temperature, whether you are actually parked outside, and how long a "few minutes" really is.

Parked outside. Temperatures 30°-37°. Idling for 10 minutes with no heat. It used to produce heat after idleing 10 minutes. Now, after 14 minutes still no heat until I drive 1/2 mile.

I had forgotten about that. It was low. Heat works better now. Thanks for the advice.

That is great to hear. If it was low, you may want to try a new radiator cap. Sometimes they get old and allow some coolant leakage.
