My dad is finally getting the truck itch! He wants to lower the 95 GMC 1500.

-He is looking at the Belltech 2/4 or the 3/4. He does not know if he should get the leaf springs or the shackle and hanger. What is best? I think the leafs would be easier to install.
-He is definitely going with coils up front.
-He is also going to get the Belltech rear sway bar.
-Don't know what shocks either?

My brother and I will be doing the install, so any tips will be useful too!

I am thinking the leafs will be the better option too! Wonder if the leafs will soften or stiffen the ride?

I thought the coils would be a better - easier install. I don't want to have to cut anything. Also doesn't the turning radius get smaller if he uses spindles?

I have heard good things about those Doesche Techs too! I will mention those to him.

Thanks, more info is welcome!

my 97 is dropped 4/6...
if I was going to go 2/4 or so...
I would use drop spindles on the front (they were a simple install) and probably try to get away with just leafs in the back...
oh and anything that reduces the travel (springs or coils) will have to be stiffer or they would bottom out too easy...

here is my .02

if he still wants to use the truck for towing, id prolly try to stay away from a new leaf pack, it will considerably reduce the towing ability of the truck because there are fewer leaves to carry the weight.

as far as the front, the spindles are easier to replace cause u gotta take them out to get to the spring neway, so fewer things need to be romoved. as far as cutting, nothing is cut unless you do a 6 inch drop in the back, then ud need to cut a notch in.

shocks.... its all a matter of preference. i run the bellthech nitro drop shox, but, almost ne shock made for a lowered truck will work. (notice i said almost.... if ur gonna do it... do it rite the first time and stay away from cheap stuff.)

other than that, just remember to take your time, and do it rite. make sure the truck is securely up on jacks, and have fun.
