What did the dealer do for you guys? Also did anything work or solid confirmed fix? Ive read that even after replacing rings and shit they still burn oil.

Im ordering parts this week for the DOD delete from Texas-Speed and I'm hoping that will well not only fix the lifter squeak, but also put me back at a normal consumption rate. While the heads are off I was going to deep clean the pistons with some seafoam/GM top end cleaner to free up the "stuck" rings on the shutdown cylinders (1,4,6,7). Just wondering if I should just replace the rings while the motor is apart, or keep finger crossed that it will return to a normal rate. Ive burned about 2-3qts in 1500 miles. No smoking on start up or while driving.

Anyone that has done this, Did you remove the AFM squirter from the oil pan or leave it in? Obviously all the DOD will be tuned out.

Does anyone know if you can use an aftermarket ring on these pistons as well? Jegs shows a total seal ring kit for them, but the DOD pistons may be different from a standard LS based piston?

From my understanding is that the rings are replaced as they seize up in the piston. There is a deflector put in as the piston oilers are causing additional consumption. Re ringing it is going to involve a considerable amount more of tear down then just doing the afm removal. Not saying you don't need it but just so you are aware

Well I already got a check from the dealer to do the DOD delete from Texas-speed. I figured heads are off, pull oil pan, pull rod caps off and push pistons up and out. Clean them and re ring them with total seal/sealed power rings and call it a day.

Just spoke to a gentleman at total seal (Awesome customer service) to make sure that there is no DOD specific ring for the LS motors. He says theyre all the same. Also said to try running a rotella oil since diesel oil is FULL of detergents and it will help clean up the ring grooves and free up the rings. Ive always tried Trans fluid in customers vehicles with alot of success in cleaning up crud. Ill give the trans fluid a shot and hopefully just do the DOD delete and tune to fix my consumption issues.

Called the dealer, and they said there are no open campaigns. Im not sure if I can get that deflector plate. It seems to only be necessary while in the shutdown mode if i read the TSB correctly.
