my 02 5.3 has a tick again, i have had MM oil in it and its been sounding pretty quite except the start up for a few seconds and the ticking go's away! well i had it at about 1800 rpms and when it came down to idle i had a hard solid tick, sounds like only 1 is ticking and it stayed untill turned off. my question is that since i have been useing the MM oil should i or shouldn't i put some type f atf in before changing the oil to amsoil and filter ? even with the tick the truck runs very smooth...it just sounds like a pile! any plus's to running a thicker oil for the ticking...thanks it has 130,000

Do an Oil change. Replace with 5W-30 Mobile 1 and half a bottle of Lucas Oil Heavy Duty Stabilizer. Normally the Lucas can cure your lifter tick noise and don't use Mystery Oil.

MM oil is a solvent. I wouldn't run it for any extended period of time in any engine.

I second the oil change. Use 5-30
