My truck is a '97 K3500 with the 5.7 Vortec and 97k miles. When I climb up a steepish, rocky, road to where we mountain bike, the truck smells and feels like it is getting really hot, but the temp needle stays where it always does, about the lower middle of the gauge range. It will then occasionally light up the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light. I am sure that since it only does it when I am bouncing, albeit slowly, up this particular road that the heat and jarring has something to do with it. Any suggestions as to what might be causing it to throw the oxygen sensor codes and light the SES light and what I might do about it? Thanks. Troy341

Would that do it intermittently, like when it gets hot again? Hmm does kinda make sense, thanks will check into it. Troy341

makes sense since ur chugging along up hill and the truck wont overheat but u can smell the heat. When it does that, pull over real quick and pop the hood, bet u those manifolds are glowing red
