I was cleaning my dash board this weekend and noticed flakes on the towel I was using - I looked at the dash and dammit if the dash wasn't peeling!!! :flame: issed: Whatever coating they put over the dash is peeling right off right around the vents at the base of the windshield!! My truck only has 15k miles on it, I use Zaino Z10 leather in a bottle w/UV 40 protectant and I use a sun screen in the windshield when it sits outside in the hot sun! There's no reason it should be doing that! It's only getting worse and I have a feeling they will have to replace the dash! Is that a large undertaking?! I'd like to see what excuse they come up with to try and deny this one!

Anyone else ever have this problem? :flame:

I dunno, take it back. Its under warranty, its not right, i don't see why they wouldn't fix it...

I had the same problem, and the dealership WOULDN'T warranty mine. Mine starting peeling at about the same time as yours (i have an 02). I took it in and they said I had to have used some chemical on it to make it peel, which wasn't true. Hopefully you have better luck than me.

my 99 had a couple spots that were peeling, i just peeled it all off, i planed on sanding it down and painting it, but totaled the truck, now my new 99 doesnt have a problem, the interior is perfect

my friend is a detailer in long beach and he told me once not to use any high gloss or high shine stuff on your wheels/dash/doors because the substance in them builds up and eats away at the material. Maybe that is it, if not take that bitch back.

my '99 was peeling too. so i just ripped it all out and started sanding and getting it ready to paint.

My neighbors tahoe is peeling bad, she cleans her dash with all that shine crap all the time. Good way to avoid this is be like me and never clean it and when u do, just use a wet reg to get the dust off.

My glovebox door, ashtray, flip down accs plug cover, and the gauge bezel on my 02 all peeled and gm replaced them all under warranty.

It's not the Zaino - trust me! Zaino is not high shine and gloss product(www.zainostore.com). Look at the Z9 and Z10 products. I've been using Zaino (and selling it as a distributor) for 7yrs and I have had several GM vehicles (4 camaros, grand prix, blazer, c5, and now the firehawk) and I have been using the Zaino treatments on ALL of them for years (and so have all my customers and friends) and NO ONE has ever had a problem with peeling dash boards in those 7yrs. It looks to me like the has started peeling on the very edge where the vent is at the base and flakes back from there - it's not in the middle of the dash. I beleive it's just a defect and it's apparent that others have had the same problem. I just want it fixed or replaced - I honestly have no desire to sand and repaint it myself - it's a daily driver and not my #1 toy - that's what the Firehawk is for

They better fix it if they fixed mine so they should fix yours. Mine was hardly even visiable but over time it would have gotten worse. They even replaced my brake petal cover it was falling apart from the way i put my foot on the petal damn size 14. I milked for all i could get on my warranty and with the 1 year warranty on all the new stuff i will get all that stuff fixed each year like petal cover, blown speakers, broken center console Etc

My 02 Dash started peeling near the pass handle 1st time the dealer replaced the dash the next time they had a company came out and repainted the spot.
I was told by the dealer that most of the plastic int parts where painted and it was more of a problem with the dash. my 04 seems not to be a painted.
I would call the dealer see if you can get it repaired under warranty and if that doesnt work call GM and complain alot but be nice this is a very comon problem I know a few people that this has happend and the dealer covered it under warranty even when there factory was out.
