Hey
I just got a brand new silverado with the 5.3. I am going to be lifting it and doing some exterior mods so i dont want to spend to much on the engine at this time.

What mods can i get for about 500-1000$ and how will this help my HP, Torque and Gas Millage

Any particular brands
www.nelsonperformance.com for the tune

Volant intake and Magnaflow exhaust

(purely my opinion :D )
Is their a website where i can get all that at? What exactly is a tune. What a about a performance chip?
A 'custom tune' is where you would call up Allen from Nelson Performance, give him info on your truck and what octane you use, along with your VIN and service code on your current stock PCM....he uses LS1edit to create a custom program and modifies the air/fuel, timing, Torque Management, shifting speed + pressure etc etc.....sends you out the custom tuned PCM and you ship back your core. I believe people see anywhere from 15-25hp from custom tuning. He also offers free upgrades if you mod later on, and a 30 day money-back guarantee.

As far as the Volant and Magnaflow, I'd first search ebay for the Volant (got mine for 250 shipped), or go to www.Tbyrnemotorsports.com - they often have sales going on. You can also get a cat-back exhaust kit from Tbyrne or any performance shop. I bought just the muffler from www.hottexhaust.com and had a muffler shop install it with a turndown before the axle. Mine is the 22x8x11 oval muffler part no. 14579, which I believe is the same one that comes in cat-back kits such as the one you can buy from Tbyrne.

nelson or pcmforless tune, homemade intake (cheap), ls1 fans, and a straight thru 3" muffler

magnaflow is very good - i have the corsa sport and love it. the volant intake is great, but expensive and efans with a home depot intake will free up more power
you might want to read up on Allen a little more before just getting a tune from him, and not someone else. There has been some pretty bad feedback on him at ls1tech.
i would bet my left nut that there is alot more positive than negative feedback. I have a nelsons tune and i love it. Yah his customer service isn't as great as before and that's because he is alot more busy. He also had computer problems and has been playing around with his dyno. It took him about 2-3 days to return my phone call and that isn't that bad. When you get him on the phone he is helpful as hell and knows what he's talking about.
Yeah, start with the basics... intake, exhaust, then tune.

I like K&N FIPKs, Magnaflow or Dynomax on the exhaust, and a custom tune. Mine's from Nelson also... works great, he's a lil tough to get a hold of at times but I'm more than pleased with it.

After that, keep that 4L60E together with a TransGo shift kit and at least a 'Vette intermediate servo with a billet OD servo.

I'd step up to headers (preferably LTs) next from The Other Guys or Arizona Speed and Marine. Then a good cam and perhaps a stall converter.

and I'd bet my right nut that your right......or something :shake:
here lately there was a person on ls1tech that became a directer. after that is when the flaming began on allen. he had a bad experience with his tunes. he was having problems with his truck is one of the reasons. there are always some negative things about all buisnesses. IMO allen has a 99% customer satisfaction. feel free to go to who you decide. but i think that allen has a stronger following than most.
I didn't mean to post bad light on Allen, I just wanted to point out that yes, even he, has unsatisfied customers. It's up to you however, to read the situation and figure out if it's relevant or not. From all I have read, I would not hesitate to get a nelson tune
