I run Lake Country Pads and this backing plate with my orbital polisher. Well today I was buffing out my boat and the backing plate simply came apart, anyone else have this happen? Granted it did have a lot of hours on it from detailing in BCS but it still caught me off guard.

Im gonna guess its from heat. Gelcoat gets hot when using foam pads.

Only other reason I can think of is that you were pushing so hard on the pad that the jerking motion from the polisher just continued to tear the backing plate apart.

I was on speed 5 with slight pressure when it happened. I was holding it with one hand buffing and it started to wobble back and forth and sent the pad/backing plate flying.

· is probably detailing...

Hmmm... well its not unrealistic to think that it was maybe just a bad plate. It happens... nothing is 100% perfect 100% of the time.

If you're shopping for a new plate:

Ours is made in the USA, among the thinnest, lightest, and most flexible DA backing plates on the market and backed with a 110% satisfaction guarantee
