I'm going to shop for a early 2000's Silverado or Sierra this weekend.

I'm going for the 4.3 or 4.8

What are some of the common problems on these engines?

That or if someone on here wants to give me a free truck I would take that too, preferbly a Dually Crew Cab with a Duramax or 8.1 Big Block =)

lets see where do i start, not all these are motor issuses but on my truck with the 4.3, i had the alt go out at 31000 mi. then the washer bottle motor cracked causing it to leak, now my ac has a issue with staying cold. just the driver side does it and i have to reset it by shutting the truck off and restarting it

I bought my truck new in 2000, it has the 4.3 in it. 124,000 miles on it and still running strong:read:

Mine still runs great. Though, I don't know about anything before I got it, 207xxx miles were put on it before I got it. To my knowledge, my truck hasn't given me any problems. Though, for me, when it sits overnight and I start it, it always squeels a bit for a couple minutes, then goes away after the motor warms up. I think it's this damp/humid weather as well as the coldness added to it that I'm in.
