Well since i dont have the money to paint my truck right now im just goin to prime it a solid color any suggestions on color. i was thinkin about a black or steel gray lookin primer i plan on paintin it orange or either burgany on top and like a dark silver on bottom . Any suggestions on the primer doesnt matter wat color cuz im gona sand it all down again anyway . thanks coolguys primer = :rocking:

I like mine with the no shine. primer the ultimate in car show finishes :head:

what color is the truck now? Is the paint 100% shot or what? I really hope you aren't talking about putting it in spray can primer, that would be horrible. Primer isn't going to protect your truck like paint and clear will either. A faded paint job looks 100 times better than primer to me. You can always buff the paint and try to restore it to "decent" condition.

If you will be spraying the primer, just spray the paint then clear next. Shouldn't be more than $250 in materials and then of course your time in prepping it. Primer just isn't cool :read:

and if you leave it in primer for too long it WILL rust through, took 4 months to rust through a primer spot i had on my rocker panel. :nono:

dude, primer is gay, and what are you talkin about 4k for a paintjob, do your own body work, LEARN, spray the primer yourself and goto maaco and get the thing shot witha clear for under 1k:read:

I painted my truck myself, and the paintjob was great, people love to talk shit about maaco paint,ive seen a couple that look pretty good.

Im not gonna leave it in primer forever juss for a couple months til i get everything i want done to it ,, look in the new truckin September 2004 on page 48 the top left is how im gona do mine 4 awhile and i thot about puttin like a clear coat on it not like a shiny one juss one that gives it a sheen ya kno ,,,, sorry jeff wont happen again

I've never heard of a "non-shiney" clear coat. Clear coat is just that, a coat of clear material that adds depth to something and brings out the color. If you want to see what something will look like cleared, then just put water on it. This is what i do while wetsanding a piece before clear to remove trash.

If you are talking about those "primer show vehicles" they aren't in primer for the most part. They are actually painted with paint that has a flattening agent in it. If you want to see an example of this look at Mike's truck (member name: grounded )
