Re: Push Buton Start
Looks pretty cool.
Looks pretty cool.
Yes. Absolutely. This it?I use a system called the K9 sombra, its an alarm/RFID i got it on ebay for around $60
I also used a remote start module with a latching relay system.
There are quite a few wires to hook up, i would never do it again and there were some kinks to work out.
If you'd like i can try to help you out if you get the stuff for it.
I did not tap into the BCMYes. Absolutely. This it?

Also, as I have a 2002, there may be numerous differences in wiring the BCM.
actually my truck did not come sith steering lock, and i disabled the shift lock. sooo i dont even need to take the keys out of my pocket.but you still need to insert your key and turn it to get the wheel to unlock correct?
cool idea, but seriously, whats another 1/8th of a turn
That system seems good, but i made mine for less than half of that price. and when working on a budget, all is good when money is saved.I plan on running this system in my project truck...

2001 was the last year for steering wheel locks in GM Trucks.but you still need to insert your key and turn it to get the wheel to unlock correct?

My 2001 doesnt have a steering wheel lock.2001 was the last year for steering wheel locks in GM Trucks.
Then you have a late build 2001 that received a revised 2002 column. My 2001 doesn't have a steering wheel lock.
Notice: On the 2002 and later model year vehicles, the steering column LOCK was removed from the steering column. It is critical that the J 42640 - Steering column Anti-Rotation Pin is used when servicing steering columns on 2002 and later model year vehicles. Failure to use the J 42640 may result in damage to the SIR coil.
