raiseing rear bench seat......????

1667 Views 16 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  SlickSilverado01
i have a 2001 ECSB truck and i am wondering if it is possible to raise it up about 4" i need room to put my subs and amps under it and still have all the seats so i can haul ppl around..... is the rear seat just bolted to the floor? could i just get a couple hunks of steel and longer bolts and jack the rear seat up? or would that make the rear seat unsafe?

thanks

well im not really sure on this, i do have the same seat as you though. the bottom would be easy to do, im not sure about the back, and if the seat belts on the seats would reach. what the hell kinda subs do you have that u would need to raise your seat up 4"? i see people all the time that have all their stuff under those seats just fine. i think you could mount the amp behind the seat, im not sure though; maybe that will save some space.
so the seat bottom is attached to the floor and the back against the wall? would i have to move both? and i did forget about seat belts.... i think i will go 2" instead of 4". the subs i have are 2 kicker solo baric 15" l7 subs. and how do i take the back of the seat off? to either move it up or tey to mount my amps back there.

Raising your rear seat 2-4" will put you over the retaining hooks on the back, which will make your seat flop forward. Major mod too, if you wanted to throw in longer studs as opposed to factory for the extra height. Do a search on how to remove the rear seat. There should be several postings.
15 inch L7's. That is alotta sub man, and alotta amp. It will be a hard as hell stuff. If i were you id bite the bullet and rip out the rear seat and do a sweet ass fiberglass job back there.
Mount them in your bed under a tonneau and put in a tunnel :rocking:

but i actually use my bed i haul dirt, gravel, grass, straw, brick, block, lumber and a ton of other shit and i need my bed and i need my back seat to haul ppl around. 15" l7 need to a min. of 1.5 cf of air space in a sealed box and i think it is possible to do so. all i need is to raise the rear seat. plus i dont want to take it out because i dont have any where to put it. it is also leather....

Put you two bucket seats in the back, and the 15s between the seat

4 buckets rock, maybe not APC buckets .. If I was gonna do an all out show interior in my truck I would probably do 4 buckets.
Removing The Rear Seat::::

4 19mm Nuts (2 Per Side)
Slide Rear Of Seat Upwards To Release Hooks
Remove From Truck
crap i'm gonna have to get pics of what 2 12 L7s look like under a NBS rear seat. A 15 isn't gonna fit under the seat. Its gonna hang out from under neath the seat. Which IMO would look funny as hell. Unless you bought the subs, i'd just go with 2 12s... My box fits flush under my seats, with no lift

Yeah, please do .. I've only been asking since January to see the pics

haha ass... i'm lazy. and i haven't really had my truck much that lately... godamn shops
I have 2 L7 eights in my center console and they slam. I was actually going to put 2 L7 10's under the back seat after I move back into the interior to complete it. I have a 3 door though so buckets :imo is out of the question. I think that L7 15's are way to big for under that seat.
well shit i should have bought the 12 instead of 15...................I might buy some 12s and force my friend to buy my 15s..... that what i will do is buy some 12s and sell the 15s to my friend.... but i am still going to raise the rear seat 2" or so..... what should i use as spacers? i think a piece of wood would be too weak.....how bout some steel plates stacked up to 2" i have a bunch of 1/8" i would need 16 pieces for each side......would that work ok?
Just don't do wood please. Steel or solid billet. :D
dont worry i am not a ******* rigger :anitoof: and use wood for everything i am going to make it out of steel. thanks for the help
