I'm new to this site just needing some advice. I got an 09 Sierra 4x4 and looking to give it a little lift. It currently has. 2" leveling kit. I'm looking at either the 3.5" or the 5" lift made by Rough Country. I just can't decide if it's worth $500 for only 1.5" more lift than I have right now. Can you even tell a difference? Any pics to look at before I make my decision would be great! I'm gonna be running factory 17" rims with either kit will that be a problem?

Thanks

Well shoot. I looked through another thread about lifted nnbs with stock wheels and I love those trucks but most had 18"+ rims. I had an 02 leveled that I was able to run 315/75/16's kinda disappointed that a 3.5" kit won't clear that tire size on the nnbs. Stupid fender design.

I've heard you can run 17's with a small spacer
Some people slip by with a 1/4" some people have to go to 1.5". Depends on the back spacing of said 17 and the tire size

If you are comfortable with your current ride but just want a bit more height, add a 1.25-1.5" body lift. If that's not enough height, then go to the 5" kit but keep in mind that you will need spacers up front or larger diameter wheels.

You can get the 5" for a decent price, cheaper than straight from rough country if you buy from vendor on here, that's where I got mine.

I ended up getting the tape measure out and saw I was 1.5" higher in the front. Apparently the leveling kit installed by the previous owner gave the truck roughly 3" of lift. So the 3.5" kit wouldn't have given much more. I just put some 3" blocks in the rear and It gave the truck a whole new look.

the trucks come with about 2.5" of rake so if your 1.5" higher in the front that means your front went up 4" which is not possible with any leveling kit

I installed procomp 3" blocks in the rear this past weekend and removed the blocks that were on it. The ones I pulled off measured 1.5" roughly. I will try and post a few pictures of the front and the blocks and shackles.
