My SES light cam on my truck the other day, took it to AutoZone tonight and they read the code

P0449 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Valve/Solenoid Circuit Malfunction .... says to

1st Purge or Vent Solenoids
2nd Possible blockage in Vapor Canister
3rd Check connectors and wiring

Anyone ever had this before? Is the canister the thing thats buy the gas tank with all the hoses going to it? I noticed I had some pine straw in between my cab and bed sitting on the gas tank area, maybe that has something to do with it?

Any help is appreciated.

First step is check to make sure your fuel cap is tight, then I'd take it to the dealer
I put some fresh gas in and made sure the cap was tight already. I was gonna do a little research before goign to the dealership, they're likely to charge $75 just to look at it. :nono:

The evap cannister should be mapped out on a diagram under the hood. It traps fuel vapors from the manifold and gas tank to keep air clean when engine is off. if you over fill at the pump repeatedly you can damage it.

Yep, Ive never fixed it and lately my truck has been hard to start if its cold, and my gas gauge is jumping around, I've been told this is the tale-tale sign of the fuel pump about to go out :nono:
