i guess this would go here.

So for the longest time i was always fuckin around with the gear i was in,and i seemed to be down shifting alot, when id come to stops (guess i thought i was driving a stick lol) now my problem is i have a quite a bit of play even when its in a gear, and for the times that im driving in 3 and go to shift it into D the gear shift arm/lever/selector w.e moves into D ( like it moves up a notch) but the light on the dash stays at 3 and the truck will stay in 3rd until i realize it and tap the arm up as if u was to put it into D then the light will go over to D and itll shift

so what did i wear out and fuck up? id like to get rid of some of the play and not have the Gear light issue

Not sure about the NBS but the older gm's linkage can be tightened underneath, near the tranny pan.

With the ford's, shift slop was very common. With new spring clip/shift tube/shift bushings it was like new. Parts where cheap too, i bet gm are about the same.
