LT, dont waste your time with shortys...simply look at their design, they look exactly like the stock manifolds, they couldnt possibly give you noticeable gains.

Make one IMO, but it just won't be the same without someone insisting they work, and getting jested off of GMFS.

with longtubes you wont pass ca visual smog. Shorties are CARB exempt. BUT! being that you have a new truck just get longtubes and worry about smog later down the line.

For long tubes? It depends on what kind, pacesetters on an NNBS will need a custom Y pipe. I think ARH makes a direct bolt up for NNBS but they're pricey.

What brand?

It's EZ... do it yourself!! You can usually buy the whole entire setup with the Y pipe and clamps. I'd get it welded on though to ensure no exhaust leaks.
