Ok, my "service engine soon" light just came on in my '00 5.3L suburban. Should I be worried? No new sounds or loss or anything...

nah, just go by an auto parts store and they will read yoru code. It can be as simple as a clogged air filter. Mines been on for 30k miles :pow:

(its my knocks sensor which IS working, their just has to be a short I cant find)
sweet. Damn I hate being nervous.
Around here autozone will pull your codes for free. :read:

One thing I love about Chevy's is that big and small things will cause that "Service Engine Soon" light to come on. Like DE said, it could be the air filter. Also check your O2 sensors, make sure the gas cap is on good, and make sure your plugs and wires are in good shape. Also change your oil if you haven't done it in while. Hope this helps.
if the oil needs to be changed it will have th service engine soon light to come on
could be a O2 sensor clogged.
Believe it or not if you gas cap isnt tightened down enough it can come on.
yeah that stupid gas cap! if you dont make it click like three times when you close it, it will throw some code about halfway through a tank of gas. it happened to my 2003 three times. got a new cap, hasnt happened since.

my wifes new Impala has blown the left rear blinker like three times know. so they're going to replace some relay thingy. she works at a dealer so getting stuff fixed is no big deal for me.
