i didn't smooth the textured black grill on my ford ranger but I did paint it, I used krylon fusion paint that was pretty close and cleared it and it held up 30k miles til I totaled it. Go for it, Plus the work truck will look a lot better with your chrome grill on it

what about the bumper piece between the grille and the bumper? how hard is that to take off? i know on my truck its chrome and on the w/t its black. i might just leave the chrome one on.
Honestly with a black grille and end caps the the chrome bar it looks like straight ass.

Get the bumper too, it takes about 2 hours to swap but it's not hard.

yeah by no means try to do it how i did, I was just trying to show that the paint will hold up.

Get an impact, an air ratchet, and some time and take out the w/t black center piece, It won't match your paint but its ready to paint as is, so the body shop will do it cheap while they are painting your grill, if you look in my sig thats what I did, My truck was a work truck and i put the lt end caps and then painted the center white

:word: to the "aftermarket" factory grill. I would be apprehensive about paining the W/T grill simply because of the work involved around where the honey comb shit butts up against the main part of the grill. Prone to an edge and paint could start pealing.

I love my black GM grill. Was well worth the money.
