When I did mine I waited for a warm day, and then got some fishing line and removed the pannels. Then I got a can of goof off and soaked the tape for a bit and it came right off. I removed the passenger side molding with just my fingers and had blisters and sores for weeks like you. Goof off is your friend.

:read: ain't that the truth.
yea those fukin blisters sucked..... lol
I remember waking up the next day, looking out my window and thinking "Fuck, that doesn't even look good, and my finger nails feel like they are falling off." But now I love the way it looks.
Heres what to do when removing your side mouldings. Like everyone else said, wait for a sunny day then use the fishing line to get off the mouldings themselves. Then I HIGHLY advise you to go to a local auto parts store and see if they have an ERASER WHEEL. Its an attachment on to the end of your drill that will take all the glue that is behind those mouldings off.
What do these Eraser Wheels look like? Before I did mine I looked for one and everyone around here had no idea what I was looking for.
lol i have heard horror stories about this for the longest time. I said it cant be that bad, lol. By the end of the night i was wishing I had planned ahead and got an eraser wheel or at least some goo gone type stuff
will the eraser wheel scratch black?
The eraser wheel isn't supposed to scratch anything. I never used one. I did mine on a sunny day and wore leather gloves. Did it all by hand and no blisters. However, my truck was less than a year old when I took the moldings off.

I am in the process of taking my side molding off. Don't use your thumbs, I know that I have tried that in the past. Go to a Ace Hardware store and get some of the plastic scrapers for puddy and take the molding off with fishing line, then I reccomend using a blowdyer to heat the tape up and use the plastic scraper to remove the tape. Once you get tape off go back with Oops or Goo Gone to get the residue off.
Bad idea on the plastic scraper... :nono:
If you love your truck and paint don't use anything like that. You may get away with it for a while, but you WILL end up scratching your paint. Use the eraser wheel or leather gloves to protect your hand. -TK
yeah I wore mechanics brand gloves and it really helped
Heres my experience, I took off only 1 moulding by myself with the fishing line and thumbs. I spent about 3 hrs removing about 8" of glue. I posted up and people told me that the eraser wheel is a blessing. I went to go buy it from my local auto store and they had no idea what it was. So I am in the process of ebay shopping for them.
OOh and btw, whoever was asking if these will scratch the paint. From what I have heard from many people, it will not scratch the paint. If anyone is planning on doing this removal, I suggest getting the eraser wheel. There on Ebay and I'm looking at a 3 pack of them for 29.99 If anyone wants to split this pack up with me, I'd be glad to do so.
heres the link to the one i bought, its definately worth every penny you pay, i had my moldings and glue completely off in less than an hour with this and not a single sore on my finger:read:

Yup go with the eraser wheel. I just did mine yesterday. Just heat up an edge of the side moulding and peel while your heating it up. I used a blow dryer to heat it up. The eraser wheel took off the glue quick with no sore thumbs. It's like 30 bucks at auto parts store. Only thing it didn't work on was my pinstripes.
Hey do any of you guys who have their eraser wheel want to sell it?
Sure I'll sell you mine. It's exactly like the one pictured above.
how much? And it was the one you have already used right?
