Lets say a guy has factory base 245's and then put the factory Z71 wheels and 265's. I can't imagine you can run your spare anymore being a different overall diameter. I see guys all the time with 285's BF's and there little 245 spare under the bed.

Am I right you can never run a different diameter spare tire with the other 3?

What about cars before they started the fullsize spare, those I know are half the width but they must be a smaller diameter.

Thanks for the input/help. :bowtie:

Depends on what you are doing.... Personally with a LSD in back it can casue some issuses... If in front (on a 4x4) or open rear it is really hard on the spider gears. You've gone one tire going faster than the other. On a 2wd front it wouldn't matter too much.

One thing is braking would not be correct with the different diameters.

when i had 31s, i had a tiny spare (prob 28" dia overall) i had to use this it twice, both times on the front...is not hard if its on the front and your hubs are unlocked (acts like its totally open). And braking, it does pull a tad bit harder to one side, but not that big of a deal...could cause a lil more problem in the rear, but you should really be using a spare thats close to the same diameter...

The hubs don't unlock on a NBS or even an OBS. The classics were the last with locking hubs. There is just an actuator that engages the front end to the driveshaft.
