Looking to see if anyone has any information regarding the spare tire hoist. What's the max tire height and width that can be supported by the spare tire hoist in the factory location? What's the max weight it can hold?

If it can hold the wheel size but not the weight, is there an upgrade that I can do to have a heavier duty hoist or something similar?

This is on an 06 crew cab silverado

Looking at putting a set of ck375s on my truck and wanted to have a fifth one as a spare in the stock location. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Reason I want to run that size spare is I like things to look the same even if it is temporarily as running a spare would be. But the main reason being I want to eventually step up to some big brakes and I know that with the big brakes setup I can not run a factory spare tire.

That plus I have a fifth ck375 with matching tire.

Have not ran one under a truck in 8 years.
I haven't run one in a long time myself but having just moved to Austin about 8 months ago I'm wanting to run one just in case something happens. I don't live in a small town anymore where I knew everyone and it wasn't that far to go and had a contact list full of people to give me a ride or help out.

I hate having to haul it in the bed that's why I'm looking into this. Plus there's so many people with sticky fingers that would love to just grab a CK375 sitting in the bed.

A lock only keeps an honest man honest. If someone wants it, they will take it.

But I do agree the spare hoist is a joke.

putting it in the spare hoist is just the same. easy access. somebody will see the shine of the wheel underneath and know its there.

leave it at home, you'll be fine. I have yet to run into any problems from not having a spare. took my spare hoist out years ago.

That's probably what I'll end up doing. I guess I just worry about it because I've been put in the situation where I needed it and didn't have it before and have also been in the situation where I needed it and had it.

Oh well, I do appreciate everyone's thoughts and insight on the questions at hand.
