Well, I've got most of what I need now so I'm going to start building my console today.
Here is what my console will be able to do when it's complete:
Play mp3s
Play DVDs, DivX, any movie
Burn CDs
Print :anitoof:
GPS Navigation
Wireless networking (for internet while on the road and synchronizing in my driveway)
PS2
cupholders

Hopefully I can get the thing to be mostly voice activated, but if not, I'll use the 7" touchscreen LCD to control it all.


Can anybody else think of anything cool I could throw in...I still have some room to put stuff in it. :evillol:

Hrm...I thought I knew how to take out the middle fold-down seat/console thing, but it's welded to the other seats right next to where I was gonna unbolt it.
Can anybody give me guidance on how to take it out?

Yeah, does anyone know how to take the whole seat assembly out? i have had a floor carpet lying around the house for over a year, but when i tried unbolting the seat, i had no idea

You have to take both passenger & sriver seats seats out then the mount that the middle seat is bolted to will come out, atleast that's how it works with a center console.

yea, the center seat should just be bolted at the same spot as the pass. & driver seat. just unbolt them and pull them right out.

how about adding a radio card and a TV card?

Oh yeah, the TV card definately. I was thinking about the radio card, but I don't think I'll need it. I'll still have my head unit, so the only other thing I could use it for would be to pick up radio to record it. But if I really wanted a song that bad, I would have pulled over and downloaded it already :anitoof:

Needless to say I've been reading up a LOT on carputers. One guy had his voice activation working by requiring a keyword to tell the voice activation to "listen" (it's always "listening", but doesn't carry out commands until he says the magic word).
Lol, you'll probably laugh at me, but I was going to call it K.I.T. :anitoof: (Komputer in Truck) like Knightrider, and be like "KIT, Navigation" or "KIT, Internet". It's gonna be pimp if I get it to work....mwahahaha. :rocking:

I will just say this....fiberglass is a bitch if you're doing a big piece of something, like a whole fuckin console...it's expensive too.
My whole house smells like a nail salon, and last night the fiberglass resin ate through the gloves I was wearing and now my thumb has no fingerprint.
Lol, it's coming along nicely though. I hope to be done with all the fiberglass, bondo, and sanding by the end of this coming weekend.
