Steering Column Transmission Linkage problems

New to the Forum. Very well setup though.

I have a 89 Suburban(so the old body style). My question relates to a problem with my steering column and transmission. My factory column had to many problems to fix so I swapped it with a different column. So now i have the linkage connected between my column and TH350 trans. With the column and trans in park I can't shift because the trams being in park but has to move backward to go into gear. The column has to go forward to shift. So basically they have to go in opposite directions to go in gear. Is there any way that I can change the linkage connection on the transmission? I don't really have the time or money to get a different columm. The only other option I could think of is a floor shifter. Any help would be greatlyappreciated.
