1.
I just got an 09 regular cab, loaded with basically everything, it has the tweeters in the a pillars, and i was wondering if I could still use them with an aftermarket door speaker and stereo set up, each channel will be getting 45 watts rms.

2.
Does somebody want to tell me how tweeters work, my theory is they have a really high resistance (ohms) so they only get a small fraction of the amps power

Yeah I really dont want to mess around pulling the a pillars apart and putting in aftermarket tweeters, thats why im hoping the stocks will work

I just put some here...

I also run a memphis audio tweeter in the stock location because the stockers were peaking BAD with my system...oh and they're run off the factory amp.
 why not put them in the stock spot

I know components are better, but still
I pulled the component woofers from my old truck, and replaced them with cheap coaxials,
but I had to leaved the tweeters in because they were glued, the crossover was build into the tweeter, and they both just got hooked up to the speaker wire in parellel

so to answer your question yes you can still use them. are you going to be using an amp or headunit for power?

I am going to be using an alpine ktp-445 which is a headunit power booster,
it says it puts out 45 watts rms, alpines pretty honest, so i'd say thats accurate, because they said their head units put out 18 watts rms
should I put a resistor on them so they get less power?

why not run all new wires from the doors to the amp? that way you can use all the power from the headunit for the stock tweeters and the after market ones?

It's not going to be the stock headunit,
the ktp-445 is plugged in between the harness and the alpine hu, and it boosts the hu's power

ugh, I wish I kept my tweeters

i have seen many problems with the ktp-445. it produces loud engine noise on some vehicles. thats why i was saying you should just amp the system instead of trying this way.

or you can do what i did.

ive got focal A165 components and i hooked up the factory tweeter as well as the focal tweeter to the crossover in parallel. sounds 10000x better than when it was just the focal tweeters. been running and jamming for about a year now.

ive also got a speaker amp, eclipse XA4000

Yeah I ordered the ktp the day it came out
and I had it in my old truck, and had no problems

Because the stock tweeter location is horrible for proper imaging.

I'd highly recommend against doing this. You're going to have a FR that is all over the place, not to mention imaging nightmares. If you are not into critical listening it might suffice, but a good aftermarket component system will completely blow away anything the factory can offer. Don't add to it, just replace. :)
