Current cam is a Thumpr from Comp Cams with a 219/233, 109 LSA, and 0.553int/0.536exh. The backbone for it is a set of Trick Flow GenX 205 heads with their dual valve springs. Engine also has new push rods and lifters from Comp Cams. Intake is a take off from a TBSS and the exhaust is just a pair of Pacesetter long tubes piped out the back with chambered mufflers.

So far i've been happy with it. Pulls hard and it sounds mean as hell. But I now have the itch to change the cam. Without pulling the engine apart and throwing everything out what should i go with performance wise instead of sound wise? Looking to just swap the cam. Torque converter stall is only at 2,600 rpms, but torque isn't a huge issue with 4.88s. Not looking for nosebleed shifts though. Currently redlines at 6,400. I'm not an expert. I just throw darts at stuff which is how i ended up with the Thumpr in the first place. Thoughts?

If you are going to throw away the cam I call dibs

If it pulls hard and you are happy with it, why change it?
I've gotten so much shit for running this cam, so I figured I'd see this through, do it "right" and see what the fuss is about. Worst case I go back to the Thumpr. Swapping sticks isn't too hard so i guess why not.

that cam might pull pretty hard but a custom speced cam to your setup will pull even harder.
give Geoff from eps a call and he will hook you up
that cam has a huge duration split with low lift, defanitly better out there

agree'd deff a nice bump over stock but if you going to change it get a custom grind built to suit ur needs

Thanks guys. Yeah the Thumpr was a gut call and I'll hand it to Comp Cams it does make you sound like a total badass. Regardless I feel like there's more on the table here. I'll give him a call and see what he thinks.

Meh. Not worth waiting two months for one.
both cams I have got from him have been well worth the wait, I have one being made right now from him again

I've had two that pat designed and eps cut. Both times I've had to wait forever for them to come in. So long that my excitement died down. They are good cams and have nice lobes, but the wait is excessive and unnecessary.

I agree the wait is a little long but its nice knowing they are not a comp core and his lobe designs are amazing

Talked to Geoff. Thing is with the camper, friends, and our junk it comes out north of 11k pounds on the scales. Downshifts to 3rd are at 3,400 rpms rolling on the highway so torque at that speed is crucial. He said we could work out a custom grind but he said I would be happy with his Truck Torque 2 cam on the high flow heads I have. It's a big lift but my springs and heads are rated for it.
