so humor me and give me some suggested head/cam/piston combos that would make this possible with my 383. i say 400 cause i know thats about the limit of the injection system on my L31 and id like to keep that. i have a volant intake and will have long tube headers. i still want to keep my very strong low end torque too.

awesome, that will cut down the cost quite a bit if i just modify my existing heads instead of buying new ones.

its been suggested to me to look at a cam with something like these specs:
214/220 with about .5" of lift
thoughts?

Are you looking for 400 to the wheels or the flywheel. IMO it's not going to happen if you're looking for 400 rwhp unless you invest in some big $$

flywheel, i know thats about the limit of my intake

I'm no cam expert.

But from what I've read, and supported by the link I posted, that cam's going to be too big for GM Vortec heads like you have.

It's stating max lift is about 0.525" before the springs bind up.
i think your right, im leaning towards the other cam i posted, or something similiar anyway
