2004 Silverado CCSB Z-71 build.....

I'm slowly, but surely working on my 2004 Chevy CCSB Z-71 4wd CCSB. It came with the 5.3L LM7 V8, G80 with 3.73's, and Bose audio system just to name a few.

I purchased it new in September of 2004. It's just now approaching 18K on the odometer.

So far, performance wise, I have added a Magnaflow 3" SI/SO (14" case) muffler in place of the oem muffler, a K&N oem style air filter, and an Airaid M.I.T. intake tube. I have also modded my oem air-box after seeing how rel3rd on pt.net did his oem air-box.

Here are some pics of mine...

As seen from under the truck...

I have also done a few exterior mods such as adding tail light and 3rd brake light covers...

I replaced the oem grille assembly with a black one with a billet bowtie...

I have my supplies to paint my lower valence black to match the grille, so that'll be next.

The servo will be asap though. From what I've read it sounds like GM should install them from the factory. I'm really looking forward to seeing the difference that the servo will make once installed.

Well, haven't painted the valence but have made a muffler change on the truck. I had a Flowmaster Super 44 3" SI/SO on the truck, and before that it was a 50 series Flowmaster.

Decided to try a Magnaflow for the first time. I had a 3" SI/SO, 14" case Magnaflow muffler installed. So far I'm really likeing everything about it. Seat of the pants dyno seems to feel an improvement over the Flowmaster Super 44.

To me, this NR Auto white gauge face is a game changer for the looks and "feel" of the interior. It was an easy install to boot!

I picked up a UPD intake tube, and air-box top/lid from a forum member to try out on my truck in place of the Airaid M.I.T. When I look at thr UPD set-up, it just seems to me to be better that the Airaid M.I.T. intake tube that I have had on for the past little while. I'll have to give it some time on the road before I establish a conclusion on the UPD vs. the Airaid.

The valence has been painted, but not installed.....yet :naughty:

I'm also planning on removing the emblems, and side moulding. The fender flares may or may not go.

After the above is done, the front torsion bars will be decranked to bring the front end back to its factory height. Along with this I'm going to remove the factory rear lift block.

That lid and intake looks like shit, the reason why I went with the Airraid was that it looked OEM.
No please, why don't you tell me how you really feel, lol :whyme:

I had the Airaid MIT installed before, but wanted to try the UPD. My ass-dyno says the UPD is helping out more than the MIT did. I still have the MIT, so if I ever make it to a track I may just find out which one really does perform better.

The covers were a freebie, so why not try 'em? They'll eventually come off, but I'm gonna leave them for now.

That is exactly what I did, I told you how I felt. Even if it did flow better, highly doubt you felt any difference, I prefer the looks over slight function on something that is so minute.

Yeah I know, hence the lol at the end. I was being facetious

I may take the taillight covers off, but I'm gonna leave the 3rd brakelight cover on.

Maybe it is a "placebo effect" regarding the UPD versus the Airaid MIT. Like I said, when I get the chance to go to the track I'll compare the two since I still have the Airaid MIT. Its not going to be a show truck so I'm not going to get too hung up about the visual appeal under the hood.

Thanks for the input ;)

Damn, I sure did forget about this thread didn't I :emotions33:

Well, the p.o.s. black tail light covers that attach via Velcro didn't stay attached very long at all. Big surprise huh. So I purchased some tail lights that were professionally blackened with automotive paint. This was probably the best mod to date for the money. I also installed LED bulbs in the tail lights, blinkers, and reverse light.
