my cousin has a loud ticking sound under the hood of his 92 z71 he power breaked the truck the other day and it now has started making a sound under the hood does anyone know what it could be or how to fix it?

Does it sound after the truck has warmed up to operating temps?

If it does, possible lifter problem...Pull the intake and check the lifters and pushrods.

I've personally dealt with a 3.8 in the Wrangler that ticked (put new lifters and pushrods in) and found out after taking apart the head it was on... it was a part of a valve guide that was broke and making the noise.
