Oh body filler isn’t the way to fix these? My old boss brought his “$80,000, 1 owner” K5 in at the last shop I worked for and this was what I found. Apparently it was an Alaska truck so surprised it wasn’t worse

Biggest problem with them right now is there's no way to do a stand alone. No one has cracked the ecm yet that I am aware of and the the halltech controller I'd want to run is almost 5k and idk if it'll even work 😅

Alright so I'm pretty sure I can make the engine run on a haltech 2000 or higher, so about 2k for that. Have a bunch of trucks saved on copart so I can at least get an idea on how much a donor would cost 😅. Why am I this retarded...

Will definitely be unique and you’re obviously not adverse to long builds (I’m not either, obviously 😂) so I say do it!

I want to get the 350 tuned up and running first and run it like that for a while and eventually I'd like to put a 3.0 duramax and manual trans in it, we'll see. Right now I haven't been able to find a definite answer on engine management for a 3.0l dmax but I think a halltech would work or maybe a universal holley system.
Now where have I heard of swapping in a 3.0 Dmax/manual before?

In for hammered dogshit welded body panels, just kidding, looks like fun.
I thought he already showed us that.

I'm plopping my ass on the couch & watching this. Come on wreckage that only the engine is salvageable. Actually, couldn't you just run the engine from the factory ECU?

10l80 🤷‍♂️ or a manual of some sort
If you don't try to boost its brains out, stock torque rating should allow for a T56 or built T5 to survive.

Factory ecu is locked by the cunts at gm, as far as I know it hasn't been cracked yet which is why I've been looking into aftermarket management systems.

As I said, couldn't you just run the engine on the donor truck's ECU? Is there some next level security in that ECU? Hook up 12v & let 'er rip.

Gone are those days. These things are locked up tighter than a nun’s knickers.

Nope, not if I want to ditch the emissions shit and do any tuning. Vats would likely be a bitch at that point too. Haltech elite 2500 seams like it should work. There's probably a cheaper option but the haltech seams to be the most user friendly I can find.
