What tqm would you suggest to take out on a 1/2 ton on 38s and 4.88 gearing? Stock tranny and no plans to do anything soon. Right now i'm thinking 60% is good. Would 80% be too much?

you guys are talking about torque management, right? i know the auto trucks have it, but do the V6 5 speed trucks have it? it basicly takes all the timing out right before the trans shifts to the next gear, right? so how does that work with a 5 speed?

I have heard that the 5 speed has more torque management than the auto. The PCM knows throttle position and if the clutch is engaged or not, so it would be easy to know how it is. With a tech II you can actually the the torque output of the motor live, so if it picks up too much it will cut some power. You can also see the torque managment at work. Another reason is the tranny is rated for 285ft/lbs of torque, which is what the 4.8 peaks at and the 4.3 is close with 260. Otherwise they'd get torn up.

Well since that truck sounds about stock, 80% would be okay I'd think. I have none but a Transgo and both billets...
