ok, on a 4l80e which of the fittings for the tranny cooler lines is feed and return for the front and rear holes they go in on the trans? also is it correct that on the radiator the return from the trans is the top line, and the feed for the trans is the bottom line? thanks

ok, got part of it. the rear is the feed...and the front is return. now the answer to my second question anyone...
Shouldn't matter... just passes through the heat exchanger, to the aux cooler, then back to the trans.

FWIW - the 60E is the top return.

eric, im beginning to wonder...what kind of question would you not be able to answer?!:worship:. thanks alot:shake:.
Actually i researched it because i ran into the same problem. It does matter actually. I googled a diagram of how it is supposed to go, but i don't have it anymore. Rear is return and front is feed on the tranny, but the one that goes/comes directly to the coller is the return, and the one that goes to the rad. is the feed. It goes from the tranny to the rad. to the cooler and then from the cooler to the tranny. I'll try and find that diagram.
little off topic but andrew how do you like that 3200 stall? is it annoying during normal driving?
nope not annoying at all. You get worse gas mileage though because it doesn't lock until late 3rd and 4th, which is fine. It doesn't brake stall as high as i thought it would, but since i only have a 5.3 i'm not puttin out enough power to turn the bigger 4l80, but once i go FI I think the stall will work out perfect.

http://www.tciauto.com/Products/TechInfo/cooler_fittings.asp this is the oppsite of what you said this is saying rear is feed for the trans and front is return to the rad:think:. which is right?
lol - I dont know all. That's for damned sure.
anybody know which is correct?
I found a diagram that showed an actual pic of the whole system and that's how mine is hooked up now and it runs and cools just fine. THe lower line coming out of the cooler is the return from my research. I wish i could find that diagram

yes, i tried to look it up on google today and couldnt find jack. im really confused with this my whole conversion has gone as planned and better than i hoped it came out to be. the only thing really puzzling me is there fuckin lines makes me:insane:. ok, so yours is hooked up now that the front is the feed into the trans. and rear is return to the rad. and when you say lower is return from the cooler your meaning the lower line from the cooler is the same one that goes to the rear because its return? or return as in return to the rad and its the feed on the trans. uhh this is bullshit:suicide:. i need to go calm myself:smokin::rofl2:.
okay, you know on the tranny the feed and return, so the line that is coming directly from the cooler is the return and the one that comes out of the radiator is the feed through the cooler. I will double check and show you pics tomorrow. I know dude, i said the same thing,i had everything done then i came to the lines and had to come to a hault. You'll get through it, better to make sure it's done right.

same freakin thing with me:banghead:...
Have you found anything on the diagram? My dad was the one who found that diagram, i'll have him take a look tonight and see if he can remember what he typed in the search engine to get it. I'm trying dude!!!!!!!!

thanks for all your help:shake:...i finally got it. went to the dealer and had them print me out a picture of the lines going from the trans to the rad/cooler. and then i came home and flushed out all my shitty old tranny fluid out of the rad. and got the lines in all ready to go. now all i need is a driveshaft:think:.
What did that diagram say? How do they go? Why do you need a new driveshaft?
new shaft because the 80 is a few inches longer than a 60, and since he's lowered his shaft will already be a little longer than it should.
i cant waite to see how you like the gearing on the 80E vs the 60E
it's not longer at all, it's the exact same length, the only thing that is longer is the mounting point on the crossmember, that's why there is a modified crossmember. I have my shit lowered and a carrier bearing relocation bracket so the driveshaft is basically straight as an arrow right now, and everything fit great, that's what the slip yoke is for in the conversion kit, it just converts the 80E output shaft so you can use your existing drive shaft. I would know!!!!!!!!!
